Made with Kirby
New design, CMS and articles
I'm happy to say that I finally finished my new blog. It comes with a all new, self-made design. Improved look, colors, typography and layout makes reading articles much easier. As last year I will still use this site to write about everything which comes in my mind (mostly technical stuff). Hopefully I will have more time in 2012 to publish new posts.
Made with Kirby

While working on my new design I found a brand new CMS called Kirby. Kirby is "Easy to setup, easy to use, flexible as hell". It's developed by Bastian Allgeier, one guy behind Zootool. At this time it was still in beta, but looked really promising. After finishing the HTML version of this site I decided to give Kirby a chance.
Implementing Kirby was – as promised – easy "as hell". It only took me a few hours to create a fully functional template, without using Kirby before. If you have some skills in PHP and web development you shouldn't have any problems, too.
My favorite features are the way it works. The jQuery inspired API makes developing easy, the missing SQL flexible and the low price makes Kirby affordable for everyone. Not to forget the great and helpful documentation, code examples and support. Searching a good CMS for your site? Try Kirby!
Designing with Pixelmator

No Photoshop! For designing this site I used Pixelmator 2.0 which is better than Photoshop in mostly every aspect. Pixelmator uses the power of Mac OS Lion and supports features like Versions and Autosave. The great look and feel, fullscreen mode and low price ($29.99) makes it to a must have! Unfortunately version 2.0 still misses layer styles :(
